When I first began to make this webpage, I wanted to call it Tir Na nOg, a famous land in celtic mythology that was ruled over by a princess who shared my name. I discovered, however, that Tir Na nOg is a very popular and somewhat overused name. In my search through the history of the legend, I stumbled upon another name: Embarr. Embarr is the name of Niamh's mythical horse, and in Gaelic it means "imagination". Imagination is the very driving force of all creative endeavors, and it seemed fitting. My name is Niamh O'Connor, and I was born in Dublin but raised in Minnesota. My love of art began as a child, flourished through a mentor during high school, and led me on to art college. I am an Illustration major from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and my images have been used for children's books, magazine articles, logos, concert posters, and apparel designs. I have worked for clients such as Popular Mechanics, Live Nation, Ritual Minnesota, Stone Arch Publishing and Picture Window Books. I also run and design for Urban Threads, an alternative embroidery design company. If you are interested in a full resume and portfolio, please contact me. |
